The Rotary Club of Ampang (RCA) received its Charter on the 27th June 1984. RCA was the vision of Dr Paul C.K. Lee, the then President of the Rotary Club of Pudu , IPP Dr Lee Hoo Teong and PP K.B. Lee, the then District Governor's Special Representative. Their efforts to widen the Rotary net and share Rotary, inspired 34 men from different professional background to take the challenge. The Rotary Club of Ampang was born.
Dr. Ken Khoo Boo Khean, a chartered surveyor, was installed as its Charter President on the 13th of October 1984. Since our founding in 1984 the Rotary Club of Ampang has been dedicated to doing good in the world.
Dr Khoo remains until this day the driving force behind the Rotary Club of Ampang.
Over the past 26 years, we have had 25 past presidents, each of whom brought along with them their unique style of leadership. All shared the same commitment to Rotary. They believed that "Rotary brings hope", that "real happiness is helping others". And so they work tirelessly to raise funds to finance these community-orientated projects.
The Rotary Club of Ampang is recognized for its spontaneous fellowship. This was one of its pillars of foundation which lead it to be one of the leading clubs in District 3300.
Rotary Club of Ampang has spread her wings internationally by adopting 4 sister clubs Rotary Club of Panchiao East, Taiwan; the Rotary Club of Hong Kong City North; the Rotary Club of Pandan Valley, Singapore; and the Rotary Club of Clayton, Melbourne.
Acknowledging that today's youth are tomorrow's leaders, RCA continue to actively guide the Interact Club of Sri Cempaka and the Rotaract Club of Ampang and the newly chartered Rotaract Club of ATC
Rotary Club of Ampang is a key player at District level. In 1990 and 1998, RCA successfully hosted 2 District Assemblies, the 56th District Assembly and the 64th District assembly respectively. In 2005, Rotary Club of Ampang was the host club of the 71st District Conference.
Charter President Dr Khoo Boo Khean did our club proud when he was elected District Governor of District 3300 for the year 2005/06. During his term of Office, he extended his philosophy of the importance and strength of fellowship from his club to all in District 3300. What a great year that was!
26 years is a long time, and all the activities of the club are too many to mention.
